Montreal, CANADA, April 16, 2007 Maximum Throughput Inc. (www.max-t.com), developers of ultra high performance software-based solutions for networked storage infrastructure and media management, announced today that Nordisk, a premiere post production house in Stockholm has purchased a fully loaded Sledgehammer HD!O Dual Link system with a Dual Stream option for end-to-end tapeless telecine and color grading. Integrated with Nordisk’s existing Thomson Spirit telecine and three Pandora Revolution color correctors, Sledgehammer has radically improved the speed and quality at which jobs get done, “By first transferring all the rolls of film to Sledgehammer and then grading non-linearly, we have eliminated the need to hang film in session, we work non-linearly in full context, and we also grade in whichever room we want,” commented Chris Noellert, the Technical Director of Digital Post at Nordisk. “The process is now tapeless, uncompressed, and 4:4:4, so we’re getting the absolutely best quality projects out the door far better than we ever got with video tape based workflows.” Sledgehammer is the only device in the world that can simultaneously play out and record streams of uncompressed 4:4:4 HD resolution video. The system replaces two devices in the telecine/color grading process: the telecine itself as all material is first transferred to the Sledgehammer and the VTR to which graded finals have been traditionally output. Since Sledgehammer is also a high speed NAS file server, all material is available facility wide as soon as the color grading is finished. Noellert continued. “By working non-linearly, we have eliminated countless hours that we used to spend redigitizing the material at other points in the facility where it is required. The second the first frame hits the Sledgehammer, it’s instantly available to the whole facility and without disturbing the mission critical transfer from the telecine or the grading that will take place thereafter. Artists in other suites can then interact with the grading session in a whole new way in a truly collaborative workflow visual effects, complex retouches and even film repair are performed and rendered directly back to the Sledgehammer where they are graded in context. The Sledgehammer integration with Max-T’s software tools has been a very welcomed bonus we’re grading dual stream with the Sledgehammer in full 10bit 4:4:4, pulling out uncompressed HD resolution QuickTime movies and lower resolution MP4s of graded selects for digital delivery using Xstoner, preparing offline timelines for the next grading session in MAXmedia and it’s all happening concurrently. We’re now watching the Max-T clustered file system option with keen interest!” John Miller, Max-T’s Vice President of Worldwide Sales, added the following about Nordisk’s purchase, “We’re very happy that after extensive evaluation Nordisk chose a Sledgehammer as the core infrastructure for their telecine and file sharing requirements. This is validation of the highest order for Sledgehammer’s utility in a high end post production workflow.” About Nordisk Film Post Production Stockholm About Maximum Throughput Phone: (978) 946-9408 Maximum Throughput Inc.
