Montreal, CANADA, April 11, 2007 Maximum Throughput Inc. (www.max-t.com), developers of ultra high performance software-based solutions for networked storage infrastructure and media management, announced today that The Creative Group in New York City has purchased a second Sledgehammer system to power their expanding high end post production facility. Traditionally serving a high end clientele that includes ESPN, CBS, Viacom, and many others, The Creative Group recently laid out an ambitious expansion plan that will bring in more feature film and high end commercial work to bolster their longer form, more episodic centric workflow. Commenting on the purchase was Alex Arce, Director of VFX at The Creative Group. “Our experience with our first Sledgehammer has been great. It’s been one of our central hubs for ingest, access, and output. All our artists, regardless of the platform they’re working on, have access to all our shared elements. The fact that Sledgehammer is both an extremely fast file server as well as a DDR (digital disk recorder) means that we can digitize our footage in real-time, and then have facility wide access to it immediately. Since all of our artists in our VFX and Design departments render directly to the Sledgehammer, we can create deliverables immediately without having to export the files to another platform for output.” Sledgehammer’s ability to interface to both the video and data sides of any facility allows it to bridge what has historically been a digital divide the two networks that exist in every facility HD-SDI and Gigabit Ethernet. While the data is the same, it must be accessed from different points in different ways. It is this dual access requirement that defines the value that Sledgehammer brings. The facility expansion at Creative Group is being driven by the need to grow the services that the company offers. With an ever increasing number of film-based projects being shot in New York, the company is catering to those who’d like to keep the post production for their projects in town. “Because Sledgehammer accommodates any kind of post work, it made a lot of sense to buy a second system to power our growth. We plan on using the system to first ingest film via HSDL from our Cintel DSX system, and then share the data between our Davinci suite, our DI department, and our visual effects workstations. The system is a key component in the development of our 2K and digital intermediate services,” added Arce. John Miller, Max-T’s Vice President of Worldwide Sales had the following comment on the purchase, “There’s nothing like a repeat customer to validate a solution, and Sledgehammer’s ability to play many roles in any facility allows it to morph into new requirements as they evolve. We’re very pleased to be playing a significant role in helping The Creative Group as it expands its business.” About The Creative Group About Maximum Throughput Phone: (978) 946-9408 Maximum Throughput Inc.
