Maximum Throughput Unveils Sledgehammer NLS™ for Non-Linear Editing Systems

Cost-effective shared storage for video editing and production is finally simple to install, configure, administer, and upgrade.

Amsterdam, Netherlands, IBC (Stand 7.630) - September 9, 2005 - Maximum Throughput Inc. (www.max-t.com), provider of high performance networked storage and media management solutions, announced today Sledgehammer NLS with SmartAccessô, a new shared network attached storage (NAS) solution for video editing and production. This new solution, initially for AppleÆ Final Cut ProÆ users, provides high bandwidth, high availability, true data sharing, and easy expansion capabilities. Because Sledgehammer NLS is NAS based, it doesn't require any hardware or software to access material from the editing stations.

Maximum Throughput Vice President of Product Marketing Michael Hughes said, "With the introduction of Sledghammer NLS, we are delivering on our promise that shared storage has to be easy and straightforward. Simply connect Sledgehammer NLS to your Gigabit Ethernet network and users can capture directly to the shared storage, allowing multiple users to edit content as soon as it is stored. No specialized hardware or software need be installed on the editing systems, and it doesn't require an IT staffer to administer. This further defines what we mean when we say Work, Don't Wait."

Sledgehammer NLS is designed to deliver high levels of throughput simultaneously to many network clients. It provides an aggregate, sustained throughput level of greater than 300 MB/sec. and allows for editing stations to digitize material directly to the system. Content can be digitized in real-time concurrently with other systems editing content already stored on the Sledgehammer. And Sledgehammer NLS provides true data sharing capabilities, with all NLE systems having the ability to simultaneously access the same media at the same time, with no volume locking.

Sledgehammer NLS introduces SmartAccessô technology. This technology allows NLE systems access to centralized content, while supporting real-time media streaming over Gigabit Ethernet infrastructure. Maximum Throughput extends its high performance Sledgehammer technology to enable users connected over Gigabit Ethernet to capture and playback multiple streams of DV25, DV50, and SD content simultaneously. Sledgehammer NLS supports up to 30 concurrent users utilizing dual streams of DV25 content or alternatively up to 2d0 concurrent users for DV50 content. For uncompressed SD video, Sledgehammer NLS supports up to 3 concurrent users for dual stream playback.
