April 6, 2005 Maximum Throughput Inc. (www.max-t.com),
a provider of high networked storage and media management solutions, announced
today that the Belgian post-production and 3D company Nozon s.p.r.l.
is optimizing and expanding the capabilities of their facility with the
Sledgehammer SD!O system. Xstoner software is used in conjunction with
the Sledgehammer SD!O high-speed centralized file server for easy access
and sharing of content within the facility. Nozon joins a rapidly growing list of prominent customers in the United States, Europe, Canada and Asia Nozon is utilizing the Sledgehammer SD!O as the high speed central file storage for both their online and 3D production efforts. All images and graphic materials for projects, whether created within the facility or externally, get loaded onto the Sledgehammer via the high speed data network or the real time video I/O capabilities. During the post production process, all project related content is stored on the Sledgehammer, including storyboards, artwork, and 3D render passes. Digital compositing artists and editors, using two Discreet systems running both flint® and smoke® on Linux, along with 3D artists, are constantly accessing the material on the Sledgehammer. Xstoner enables everyone in the facility to graphically browse content stored on the Sledgehammer. Artists can easily select and incorporate all the elements they need for their project. Nozon is also using the Sledgehammer together with a Mac system running Avid and Apple Final Cut Pro for storage of offline EDLs and MPEG files created for client review. “We were looking for a central storage solution to create the perfect bridge between our 3D and compositing departments. We chose Sledgehammer for its capability of seamlessly sharing files in our multiplatform environment. Our artists and editors can graphically browse clips and easily select the ones they need, put the material that needs to be exchanged back onto the Sledgehammer, and quickly output an MPEG file for client approval at any point in the process. This enhances our productivity and saves time for us and for our clients,” said James Vanderhaeghen, Visual Effects Coordinator at Nozon. “Nozon is the first customer utilizing Sledgehammer SD!O and Xstoner in a Linux environment in Europe. We are ecstatic that Sledgehammer and Xstoner have proven effective in this environment, and that Nozon is enhancing their productivity and efficiently sharing materials among their systems,” commented John Miller, Max-T’s VP of Worldwide Sales.
