MONTREAL, November 8, 2004 – Maximum Throughput Inc. (www.max-t.com), a provider of high performance networked storage and media management solutions, announced today that Zoic Studios has selected Sledgehammer as the networked storage solution for HD footage acquisition, file sharing, and archiving of material. Zoic Studios joins a growing list of marquee customers in the United States, Europe, Canada and Asia. Zoic Studios utilizes the Sledgehammer HD!O for HD footage acquisition. Sledgehammer HD!O acts as a storage server and integrates with their existing 4 Discreet flame® systems in the graphics department. Sledgehammer HD!O captures HD data and allows sharing with multiples users on different platforms without encoding or compression; it is the only RAID 5 HD-capable system available. “We were looking for a solution to bring HD footage directly onto the server without tying up our Discreet flame® machines to do the I/O. It is takes too much time to do it that way, and ties up the flame® system from the production process. We chose Sledgehammer HD!O to do that part of the process, allowing our flame® systems to do what they do best. The Sledgehammer has incredibly high bandwidth, and gives the maximum speed to our clients. Other systems we evaluated throttle bandwidth back based on the numbers of users. Sledgehammer didn’t do that, making it the obvious choice for us,” said Saker Klippsten, Head of Engineering at Zoic Studios. “We also use it for archiving our footage, which is a painstaking process when you are dealing with multi-resolution jobs. We can now archive the flame® systems to a giant file and then easily lay it off to a backup tape.
