Maximum Throughput's Purchase of Xstoner Further Strengthens Integration in Post & BroadcastTechnology

MONTREAL, April 6, 2004 – Maximum Throughput Inc. (www.max-t.com), a developer and provider of high-performance, networked storage and media management solutions, announced their purchase of Xstoner technology from Light (www.light.fr) today. The purchase extends Maximum Throughput's reach as it forges the next generation of shared storage and content management tools for the post and broadcast markets. “As the industry continues to be characterized by fierce competition, our customers are demonstrating an increasing reliance on lower-cost Mac- and PC-based solutions.” said Giovanni Tagliamonti, CEO at Maximum Throughput. “This strategy of adding desktop creative seats to traditional solutions will only be successful if it's supported by a specialized shared storage solution and tailored content management tools. Otherwise, the advantages of this hybrid approach evaporate. Sledgehammer's integration with Xstoner not only addresses these two necessities, but actually accelerates and simplifies the workflow in any facility.” In addition to using the Xstoner technology as a development platform for its content management and manipulation offerings, Maximum Throughput will develop and market Xstoner as a standalone product. As part of the technology acquisition, engineering staff from Light are joining the Maximum Throughput team. Xstoner is a client-server software and networking utility that connects Windows-based PC and Mac OS X desktops with Discreet Advanced System offerings, complete with a full range of tools for browsing, importing and exporting clips & image files – including batch processing and image manipulation capabilities. Maximum Throughput has worked directly with Light to integrate Xstoner with Sledgehammer, resulting in the combined capabilities of several seamless components working in unison. Post and broadcast facilities can now initiate and control the transfer of content between machines with no bottlenecks. Additionally, authorized users can remotely and securely review and approve post projects in real time through a web browser. “When we started looking for Xstoner's buyer, two qualities were important to us,” said Amer Khatib, President at Light.
