MONTREAL, February 14, 2003 Maximum Throughput Inc. (www.max-t.com), a developer and provider of high-performance, enterprise-class networked storage solutions, today announced the introduction and immediate availability of Sledgehammer HD!O, its new software-based storage solution designed specifically to address-and truly answer-the increasing demands of high-definition digital content creation. With Sledgehammer HD!O, post-production environments now have a Network Attached Media Bridge, enabling any facility-with any system, running any OS-to accept HD projects without hesitation. As the first storage appliance to sit squarely between digital video and digital compute infrastructures, Sledgehammer HD!O acts as a versatile, high performance conduit. Acting as a centralized storage pool for all facility clients (including rendering clusters), Sledgehammer HD!O can also function as a virtual DDR for 2D and 3D artists alike. Sequences of images (.tga, .tif, .sgi, etc.) of any resolution (up to 2K) can be immediately played back to a broadcast monitor, at full frame rate, with no format conversion. This can shave hours off the time normally required to review material rendered from any or all clients and clusters. "HD has finally come of age," says Michael Hughes, Max-T vice-president of business development. "With the prices of HD gear coming down monthly, more and more projects are being shot at HD for reasons of both quality and shelf life. What has been missing in the industry is an effective, centralized solution for getting uncompressed HD-based material to the artists (and render farms) that need it-when they need it. Sledgehammer HD!O now allows any facility to centralize the I/O for, and the access to, their HD resolution data. Because, after all, once digitized, it is data and should be readily available as such on the facility network." Artists will appreciate the fact that Sledgehammer HD!O enables real-time HD/SD video capture, playback, and recording, making telecine-to-network a one-step process. HD data can now be captured once and shared anywhere-without encoding or compression. And since Sledgehammer HD!O delivers network bandwidth in excess of 240 MB per second, system administrators and facility owners will notice appreciable productivity gains, secure in the confidence of having the only RAID 5 HD-capable system available. Sledgehammer HD!O is a combination of smart software and commodity hardware, optimized for moving digital content at unparalleled speeds onto or off an IP-based network. Sledgehammer HD!O can consolidate all the storage needs of a post-production facility, including HD material, regardless of the data sets in use. And since Sledgehammer HD!O is a true NAS device (in fact the world's fastest NAS), all networked users can access the same data at the same time regardless of the client platforms in use (Windows, UNIX, Linux, Mac, etc.). Unique in the industry, Max-T has no license transfer fees associated with its products. This means that as commodity hardware gets faster, so will Sledgehammer HD!O-with no additional software-related costs. Customers need only purchase their own new hardware at prevailing commodity pricing. About Maximum Throughput
